"Desert, willow groves and mountains"
This is the Hunder region in Ladakh. You could travel for miles through arid desert, and then suddenly come across a little village, set amidst willow groves, with mountains looming in the background. The willow trees provide sustenance to the village in multiple ways, and often has spiritual significance to the people, because they represent a connection to the natural world, and also are a metaphor for the resilience of the human spirit , because of their ability to survive the harshest conditions.
It is uncanny how closely nature and spirituality are intertwined in places like these. I think the closer you are to nature, the more you value creation, the more you respect life, in all the forms it manifests in.
