"Solitary hut"
I was taken back when I came across this solitary hut, bang in the middle of nowhere, miles from the nearest settlement. The setting was absolutely stunning of course, but I was visiting the area during the summer season, when the weather in this region is at its best. What would it be like during the monsoons? Or the winter? The road that led to this place was, at best, a rough path hewn on the mountainside, extremely vulnerable to both rain and snow. I can bet it remains cut off from the rest of the world for long periods when the weather turns ugly. It was barely wide enough to accommodate one car - so if you do come across a landslide, you can forget about making a U turn. I am an okay driver, but just thinking of the prospect of backing up on this road, with a steep dropoff one side makes me shudder. The sound of that river, a hundred feet below, roaring like an angry, hungry beast dosen’t help things either.
What perseverance it must take to dwell in a place like this - To make a living in a landscape that looks like it was sculpted by angry gods wielding hammers and little else!
